Scott’s Story: Finding Confidence In The Right Fit
At 19 years old, Scott Jernigan bought a one-way ticket to Alaska with dreams of working on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. He thought he might end up living in an igloo. Instead, he built a life.
For more than four decades, Scott worked in some of the harshest conditions imaginable, minus-40 temperatures, remote job sites, and long stretches away from home. Along the way, he raised a family, built a successful career, and eventually settled with his wife Ginny on a small ranch near Masonville, Colorado, surrounded by animals, grandchildren, and the outdoors they loved together.
Then, without warning, everything changed.
A devastating health crisis led to 220 days in hospitals and rehabilitation centers. Scott lost 60 pounds. When he finally became fully aware of his surroundings again, he realized his left leg was gone.
What followed was not just a medical recovery, but a deeply personal journey of rebuilding strength, confidence, and purpose.
