Eddie Carrillo’s Story

Eddie Carrillo moved with his family to El Paso, Texas, when he was nine years old. As he grew older, he built a life centered around hard work and family. He worked in construction, got married, and raised two children. Over the years, Eddie faced his share of hardships, but nothing could have prepared him for the life-changing events that began in July 2024.

An infection first caused Eddie to lose his big toe and later resulted in the amputation of his leg above the knee. In less than 24 hours, his life changed completely. Suddenly, Eddie was faced with the physical and emotional challenges of limb loss and the uncertainty of what his future would look like. Through it all, he held tightly to his faith and believed that God had never left his side.

Eddie says that God placed angels in his life during the moments when he needed them most. One of those people was Rose Elder, who recognized his need for support and worked to find help. Rose connected Eddie with Joe Johnson, CEO of Quorum Prosthetics and founder of One Leg At A Time. Joe and the team stepped in to ensure Eddie received the prosthetic care and support he needed as he began adjusting to life after amputation. Eddie’s story is one of perseverance, faith, community, and the difference that compassionate people can make during a life-changing journey.
