Gilbert Lindor’s Journey

Gilbert Lindor grew up in the remote mountain village of Gentilhomme, Haiti. At the age of 10, a compound leg fracture left him abandoned and presumed dead. Twenty seven days later, Climbing For Christ airlifted him to the Dominican Republic, where his leg was amputated. What could have ended his story instead became the beginning of his calling: Gilbert often says he “lost a leg, but gained his soul.”

After recovering, Gilbert dedicated himself to learning. He returned to school in Gentilhomme, later moved to Jimani on the Haitian Dominican border where he taught himself Spanish, and graduated from high school in 2017. In 2018 he entered medical school in Santo Domingo, determined to serve others who suffer without access to proper care.

When instability and violence left a leadership gap, Gilbert stepped in and founded Climbing For Christ’s New Generation (C4CNG) in 2015. Today, C4CNG operates schools in the Haitian mountains and organizes medical clinics for families who otherwise have no healthcare. His leadership has brought both education and life saving treatment to countless children and adults.

In 2025, Gilbert traveled to Colorado for a final fitting of his prosthesis, a leg donated through the One Leg At A Time nonprofit and built by Quorum Prosthetics. This gift was more than equipment; it was a symbol of community and faith. Supporters gathered at Christian Family Fellowship in Canon City to celebrate Gilbert, raising nearly $3,000 to help him continue his mission.

The new prosthetic leg allows Gilbert to keep serving without the physical limitations that once threatened his future. One Leg At A Time’s generosity gave him not just mobility, but renewed strength to walk out his calling.

After receiving a prosthesis through One Leg At A Time and Quorum Prosthetics, Gilbert Lindor was able to continue pursuing the work he felt called to do. He later became a doctor and now serves through C4CNG, helping bring medical care, education, and hope to communities in Haiti.

From a childhood marked by limb loss in Gentilhomme to a life dedicated to serving others, Gilbert’s journey is one of faith, resilience, and purpose. The support he received through One Leg At A Time helped give him the mobility to keep moving forward, not only for himself, but for the people who depend on him.
