Clinical Fitting and Adjustment Tips

Fitting, Comfort, and Follow-Up

A successful fit depends on evaluation, feedback, and communication. Each 3D printed solution should be assessed before regular use.

  • 1. Review the Device Before Fitting

Inspect the socket, panels, inner socket, trimlines, suspension, and component setup before fitting. Confirm that the device matches the submitted case details, side, alignment notes, and design request.

  • 2. Check Initial Fit and Comfort

During the first fitting, assess overall comfort, limb contact, pressure areas, suspension, stability, and ease of donning and doffing. Ask the patient to share any discomfort, pinching, movement, or unusual pressure.

  • 3. Evaluate Skin Response

After short wear periods, check the residual limb for redness, irritation, pressure marks, or sensitive areas. Redness that does not fade after removing the device may require adjustment or further evaluation.

  • 4. Assess Alignment and Function

Observe standing, weight bearing, gait, balance, and movement as appropriate. Make sure the device supports the patient’s mobility goals while maintaining comfort, control, and stability.

  • 5. Make Adjustments Gradually

Adjustments should be made carefully and based on clinical findings, patient feedback, and fit goals. For adjustable designs, guide the patient on proper use and safe adjustment ranges.

  • 6. Document Feedback

Record fit notes, pressure areas, alignment observations, patient comments, and any changes made during the fitting. Photos and clear notes can help Quorum review the case if additional support is needed.

  • 7. Schedule Follow-Up Care

Fit can change as the patient heals, builds strength, or increases activity. Follow-up appointments help monitor comfort, skin response, suspension, alignment, and overall device performance.

  • 8. Contact Quorum When Needed

If additional guidance, design review, or fabrication support is needed, contact Quorum with fit notes, photos, and patient feedback so our team can help determine next steps.
